After a long trip we recommend using a Brooklyn Car Service to pick you up from the airport and take you to our Brooklyn Bed & Breakfast.  It is only about 30 minutes an is a flat fee regulated by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission.  Yellow cabs are not subject to the flat fee in Brooklyn and so, can cost a lot more because the driver may be unfamiliar with Brooklyn.  Since the Yellow Cab fare is calculated by the time and mileage on the meter, an unsrupulous cabbie can also drive you on a roundabout route through Brooklyn and easily add $15 or $20 to the fare.  A Brooklyn Car Service will want to take you on the shortest, most efficient route since the fare will not change.  Under no circumstances should you ever respond to a driver soliciting you in the airport.  These are usually unlicensed, uninsured drivers and they usually over charge as well.

JFK and LaGuardia Airports are a flat rate of $35, Newark is $55 plus toll ($8).  It is customary to tip 15%.
A full-service pick-up can be arranged for and additional $25 where the driver will meet you when you exit customs.

As soon as you can after landing, if possible, before you get your bags, just call Eastern Car Service toll free from a pay phone in baggage claim at 1-866-499-7177.  They can usually have a car pick you up within 15-20 minutes.

The driver or dispatcher will give you a description of the car, which will also have a small Eastern Car Service logo in the rear windshield.  They should also have a white sign in the passenger window with blue letters and should have your name written on it. 

Once you've got your baggage, you may have to come out to the passenger pick-up area which is sometimes the second traffic loop, rather than the area for airport shuttles and yellow cabs, which is often the first section, where private car services are not permitted.
